Writing A Resource Box Someone Will Click

April 3rd, 2008 by The Profit Hustler

The internet is the information highway, this phrase has been used so may time it should be nominated for the Internet Cliché Award. People that go to the internet are subdivided into groups, but generally, they are out to search information. Whether for gaming, business, fun or anything else the internet has provided us with information that has proved to be very beneficial.

Through the recent years many people have learned the secrets of Search Engine Optimization. More and more sites have seen the effects articles have done for the traffic of their sites. Some have even created sites devoted entirely to providing articles that could be read by their website visitors and have links that could lead to many sites that are related to the topics and subjects of the articles.

For example, the sites may feature many articles about a whole lot of topics. As a website visitor reads the articles they have searched for, they can find at the end of the article a resource box that can be clicked on to link them to the site that has submitted the article. Of course the article would be in relation to the site. Lets say if the article is about rotating the tires, the resource box may lead to a link to a site that sells tires or car parts.

A resource box is what you usually find at the end of an article. They will contain the name of the author, a brief description of the author, a brief description of the sponsoring site and a link. If a reader likes what they read, they would have the tendency to find out where the article came from to read more. The resource bow will be their link to the source of the article and this will entice them to go to the site and do some more reading or research for the subject or topic they are interested in.

But like the article itself, the resource box must also be eye-catching to demand the attention and interest of the reader. While the resource bow encompasses only a small space, providing the right keywords and content for your resource box will provide more prodding for the reader to go to your site.

Now we know what resource boxes are, what are the benefits of having a good resource box? Mainly its driving traffic to your site. Many sites would allow articles to be placed in their sites because they can make use of the articles to fill their pages. They also get affiliation with other sites that can be beneficial for them as well. For the sponsoring site, when you get people to click on your resource box, you generate traffic that can be counted upon as potential customers.

So what would be a good content for your resource box? Basically it is keywords, learning about the proper keywords that people are mainly searching for. There are many tools you can find in the internet that can help you in determining what keywords to use.

Resource boxes can also make use of all the creativity it can get. You only get a small space for your resource box so you better make the most of it. Try to catch the attention of your reader with resource box content that can make them give a second look. Unlike TV ads, you don’t have visual aids to drive your point in. But you do have the power of imagination of a reader. With the right content, you can make them think and intrigued.

Another tip is to use keywords that should be related to your site. Do not mislead your potential website visitors. Build your credibility so that more people would get enticed to visit your site and browse what you have to offer. Make the people click your resource box by providing resource box content that makes a lasting impression. You only get one chance to wow them and hundreds of chances to repulse them.

Never underestimate the power of the resource box. It may be small in size but they will provide a significant aid in driving traffic to your site. A boring resource box will never get a job done. Be fun and creative but at the same time show that you have a great deal to offer, too much to ask for something that couldn’t fit a paragraph? Yes and no, there are many tips and guides that can help you in doing this, the first step is realizing how important a resource box could be in making people click your link and be directed to your site.

So You Hate Writing Articles? There’s An Easier Way…

March 14th, 2008 by The Profit Hustler

Owning, running and maintaining an internet based business or a site needs articles. Plain and simple, every who has a site knows this. Even those who don’t have sites but are frequent internet users knows this as well. Articles quench the thirst for information and knowledge of the people. Plus, the articles provides many other benefits for the site.

The benefits that articles provide are putting a site high in the ranking in search results of keywords and keyword phrases that pertains or are relevant to his or her site. They also provide attraction to website visitors when they are appreciated and is linked to your site from another site or newsletter. Articles provide for the increase of the confidence and trust levels of customers to your site and company.

Many articles are also beneficial to both company and its traffic. When the readers like the articles, they would tell more of their friends, family and peers and recommend your site to them, providing for a larger volume of traffic. You get bigger sales if your traffic trusts and believes in you. Your product or services would be much easier to sell when they know you know what you are doing and talking about.

So ok, we have established that articles are very important to a site and to business. Articles are crucial and to keep ahead in the game, a site must have an article, it is imperative. There is one dilemma though, not many people like writing articles.

Many website owners would rather spend their time on something else, and unless you’re a big time company, you don’t have the necessary resources to use on a pool of article writers. Plagiarism or copying of other articles is frowned upon and could easily get you into trouble, worst case scenario; a hefty fine and jail time.

So what are the other options?

Well, for starters if you hate writing articles and you can’t afford to hire people to write for you then don’t. Get free articles. The first place to look at for free articles is the public domain. Here you won’t have problems with copyright infringement and the following penalties and fines if you get caught for plagiarism.

Public domain articles are articles freely given to the public for public use. You can do whatever you want with it. You can place it on your site, name it as yours, put it in a newsletter its you decision. Always remember though that you will have to choose articles that is very relevant to your site.

The downside to public domain articles is that since it is free for everybody, many of your competitors may have access to them as well. Since every site needs to be original and unique even though you have the same niche, this could be a predicament. You may also have to edit them a bit to place more keywords and keyword phrases to make them better.

Another way to get free articles is to allow other sites which has the same subject or topic as yours to submit articles to your site. This would be only to augment your existing content or else all your articles would be leading to other sites since these articles would have resource boxes with them that could link or direct the readers to their site. That’s why it is important to have your own articles; you cold use them to link your site to other sites as well.

But, to truly feel the impact of what a good article to you, go for original ones. There are many article writers who do part time and freelance article writing jobs that charges only minimal fees. You can get good articles that have all the keywords and keyword phrases you need and people are looking for.

The investment you made for these articles would be worthwhile because you could use them for all the benefits you could offer. You hold copyrights to them and you will be able to use them anyway you want. As your articles help you in building your business and your site, you will have more articles to write and maybe then you wont be having second thoughts about articles.

The FAB… AKA Floating Action Button

March 7th, 2008 by The Profit Hustler

Pop ups recently received a new cousin this week, the brain child of marketer Soren Jordansen and super programmer John Merrick, is a new twist on an old tool. I really like the versatility and potential that this program gives. It being a script that you add to your site allows you to “float” just about anything you want in a pop-up that moves up and down the side of the screen while your visitor is on any page of your website, forum, or blog.

You want a sales button to show so when they chose to take action on the sales page then you can do that. Do you want to have an opt in to your list in the box then you can do that. Do you want your blog subscription details there for visitors to see, well you guessed it you can do that too. The list goes on and I can hardly list all the perks here, even adding a video isn’t out of the question. I will be looking to add this script to my sites when and where available.

Ok so I mentioned it was a script so for those who are not sure about how to install scripts or feel they “suck” at it, don’t worry! They have done an awesome job of producing all of the proper manuals and resources to help you get this up and running quick and easy no matter what your tech skill set currently is. I actually read a blog post the other day about someone who NEVER thought they would install a script themselves, yet easily installed floating action button hassle free.

Using An Ad tracker Is Vital To Affiliate Marketing

March 4th, 2008 by The Profit Hustler

There’s a lot of money in affiliate marketing. This is true, however, only to those are seriously and zealously working on their chosen affiliate programs. Success in affiliate marketing varies in every individual affiliate and for the most part, it depends on his will and perseverance. No matter how good an affiliate program is, it will not prosper if the affiliate marketer does not pay the price of hard work. One must exert extra effort especially on the aspect of promotion. Nothing will happen if the links or banners would just lie idle in a web page, an affiliate must be able to convince the visitor to click it and proceed to the business site to buy the products. No click thru’s means no income for an affiliate marketer.

You can actually generate a full-time income by means of affiliate marketing and you can do it at home, and yes, even while you sleep. You must have a good web site or squeeze page to begin with. It must have good promotional and informative contents, pleasing design, inviting banner ads and all other important elements in an affiliate marketer’s web site. It would be great if you have exhausted other means of advertising such as newsletters, email marketing, message boards and ad listings such as Google AdWords. You just have to go online once in a while to check your site and update it and to watch over the development of your marketing program. See,doesn’t this sound easy?

It can be this easy if you have planned your affiliate program well and have taken all the steps towards success carefully and diligently. Now, there’s a tool you can use to help you go through the program with ease and confidence, the Ad Tracker. For many experienced and successful affiliate marketers, the Ad Tracker is a key to a successful affiliate marketing program.

A couple I use include:

What precisely is an ad tracker? It is a marketing tracking software or program that allows you to trace and take note of every click-through made by visitors of your site and by other customers who got your referral link. There are ad tracking service providers as well, so you will just have to pay them to do the tracking for you. With the ad tracker, you can keep an eye on the progress of your marketing campaigns even offline. This tool or program is especially helpful if you are engaged in several affiliate and pay-per-click programs and have placed ads in emails, pop-ups and pop-unders, message boards, auto responders, Ezines, forums, several web sites, surveys and various ad service providers.

Of course, you don’t want all your efforts to be put to waste so you want to make sure you are getting paid for your hard work. Likewise, you want to make sure every dollar or cent you disburse in your advertising campaigns is wisely spent. With the help of the ad tracker, you will know accurately how many and which of your links where clicked on, how many clicked on your links, how many of your emails were opened and how many of those who opened your email clicked through the business site and purchased a product, how many products were purchased, which of your banner ads or links brought the most leads and sales and many other pertinent facts and figures you need.

Sales records and all data stated are necessary in any business as this could determine if your affiliate program is still worth continuing. This would also help you determine which of your marketing strategies is most effective and which is most beneficial for each product or service you are promoting.

Every decision and plan you make must be well grounded on facts. That decision or plan of action may not be the best, but it is something you don’t want to regret when you had valid reasons for coming up with such a decision or plan. You cannot just decide to terminate your affiliate program, just because you don’t earn big in an instant.

If you are serious with affiliate marketing, again and again, keep in mind that your success lies mainly on promotion and your hard work. If you don’t seem lucky enough to convince many of your site users to buy the products, don’t be disheartened and jump into a conclusion that your affiliate program is a failure. If it works for others, it could work for you, too. Know whether your advertising techniques are effective or not, which works best for your program and which doesn’t. Get an ad tracker to help you know all these and you’d surely be on the right track towards success!

Looking Back…

February 29th, 2008 by The Profit Hustler

I used to be big on Squidoo.com, as a matter of fact I had several top ranking lenses that I received a lot of exposure from , one actually was top 8 out of ALL the lenses for several months in a row. Why am I bringing this up? Well I stumbled upon an older lense that contained my name so I checked it out… low and behold it has a list of really great marketers that people voted for when this lens was in it’s prime.

Guess who’s at the top of the list?

See for yourself by clicking here to view the lens. I thought this was pretty cool, but what it made me think about most was NOT capitalizing on the opportunity I had back then and make the most of my notariaty when I had the chance. Lesson learned? Yea one good lesson is that you should always use a Google Alert for your name and products so that you know who is talking about you and where, so you don’t stumble upon something like this yourself before it’s to late.

Network Marketing and Web 2.0 During Recession

February 28th, 2008 by The Profit Hustler

Network Marketing and Web 2.0 During Recession
By Hugh Norstrom

Network marketing or mlm traditionally have experienced explosive growth during times of recession and economic downturns. In such times people lost jobs, lost earnings, lost security, LOST HOPE. Where were they to turn? Today with the threat of such an event here again we can expect the same opportunity, even more so now with the rapidly expanding Social network marketing made possible by Web 2.0

Review of History

It was in the late 1950s’ when unemployment was at it’s highest since the Great Depression (at 6.8% in 1958) that networking really began to flourish with the advent of such pioneering companies as Shaklee, Neolife and Amway.

This continued into the early 1960s’ with companies such as Mary Kay, Avon, Tupperware and Fuller Brush all gaining momentum. Then in the late 60s’ when the economy improved and unemployment dropped the growth of the home based business and direct selling slowed.

The 1970s’ were not an exception, however they played out differently. The first half of the ’70s’ saw unemployment rates jump again and the attention to network marketing once again took off. However, with all the heightened attention, five times as many lawsuits were filed from 1970-1974 than all of those filed in the ’50s’ and ’60s’ and the growth was dramatically slowed. The biggest lawsuit, against Amway, challenged the very existence of network marketing and was finally settled in 1979. This legal dispute of course dampened what otherwise would have been a greater boom in network marketing in the second half of the decade.

Again during the 1980s’ we saw the network marketing industry really flourish in the first half while in the second half of the decade it softened. In the first half the unemployment rate had reached its highest level in 40 years at 9.7%, while at the end of the ’80s’ there were almost ½ the number out of work.

In the 1990s’ the trend continued. In the early 1990s’ (1990- 1994) huge momentum in the industry, in fact “there was more wealth created in by way of MLM from 1990 to 1994 than any other time in history.” (Network Marketing Lifestyles May 2000). From 1996-1999, we had a network marketing recession. Again in direct correlation to unemployment. In the early 1990’s, the unemployment rate was very high and then in the later years in the 1990s’ it hit a 30 year low of 4.2%.

Where are we headed in 2008?

All major indicators suggest a possible recession: stock market, credit card debt, mortgage fore-closures, fall of the dollar against foreign currencies, company earnings reports across all sectors, manufacturing sector, employment figures, etc.

How do we take advantage of this opportunity?

Do we market products? This does not solve the average persons’ perceived need/want. Health and many other items can not be a major priority in this time. During times of recession peoples’ attention turns to a “just trying to get by” mentality. What we should be doing is making a shift to support people in building residual streams of income to empower them to withstand any kind of economic downturn. “Recession causes people to open their minds to gaining alternative sources of income” Lou Clements, Marketwave Inc.

Are the networking and prospecting methods you are currently using the best, most attractive, most professional and most effective way to bring people in to your business? BusinessWeek recently ran an article titled “Social Media Will Change Your Business… Look past the yakkers, hobbyists, and political mobs. Your customers and rivals are figuring blogs out. Our advice: Catch up…or catch you later”!.

Social Networking is comprised of a number of methods that can work synergistically together.

Social Networking sites like Facebook, MySpace
Social Bookmarking sites like Digg.com and SocialMarker.com
Content sharing like Squidoo and HubPages
Video, Photo and Music Sharing Sites like YouTube, MetaCalfe, Flickr

The sudden and fast rise of Social Networking is having a very significant impact on how we can maximize the potential ahead of us. Social networking is rapidly expanding, 33% of Internet users visit MySpace or have a page there, 29% either are on or go to FaceBook, 35% use YouTube. There are lots of Social Networking sites in cyber land with the number of users doubling every month. The top keyword searches bring up a social site. Social buyers make 20% more and also spend 25% more of their income. Some feel that over the next 2 years this is where the action is going to be and if we are going to take advantage of these trends now is the time to do it and this is the way to do it. Indeed because so many of the resources in Web 2.0 also known as Social Media are free or low cost net workers can now attract people to them much more cost effectively than before. Rather than investing hundreds of dollars in advertizing or buy leads now for free or just a few dollars per month one can reach hundreds of fellow human beings.

Use this as an answer to recession and economic down turns.. We must learn how to promote the business opportunity, do it well and do it effectively. If we are not utilizing Social networking we are missing the boat.
